We were all very proud of the children who drew the first game 18 all and won the second 32 - 2. It was an outstanding and fun weekend for the team who went across on bus only knowing a few leaving knowing them all. That's what it's all about. _________________________________________________ Orienteering Success Over the weekend (12th and 13th Sept) 7 Elmwood children competed in the Canterbury Schools Orienteering Championships at The Groynes and Pegasus (Bottle Lake). The two events attracted about 300 children from schools all over Canterbury in age grades from Under 6 to Senior High School. Our Elmwood team achieved some remarkable results in hot conditions on some tricky courses. On Sunday, Elise Dein and Gemma Scottorn scorched around their course in 18:13 minutes to come in third place against some serious competition in the Year 6 & under girls grade. Also on Sunday, Nicolas Davey ran a fantastic 16:45 minutes to come third in the provisional results of the Year 6 & under Boys grade against 55 other runners. Well done to all the Elmwood runners who had some great stories to tell when they burst out of the forest to cross the line.
